Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is launching a think tank focused on forecasting war scenarios and developing solutions to seize the initiative. He announced the initiative in a statement following his trip to the US.

Fedorov also said the trip was productive in terms of setting up a fund that will invest in defence developments. “We managed to secure resources that will allow us to create the largest venture fund in defence tech in Ukraine, in Kyiv,” the former minister said. He previously reported that Palantir CEO Alex Karp would be one of the key investors in the new project.

Other investors Fedorov met with in the US included Nate Fick, senior managing director at Cerberus Capital Management, and Guy Filippelli, managing partner at Squadra Ventures.

Fedorov also reiterated the fund’s three key priorities:

  1. Sensorisation and robotisation of the frontline.
  2. Jet-powered interceptors, low-cost missiles and other means of shooting down jet-powered Shaheds and enemy missiles.
  3. Low-cost strike missiles, with AI integration planned at a later stage.

The former minister stressed that the fund will officially launch in the near future. “I will invite both startups and experts to join it and work with the fund,” he said.
