Ukrainian robotics developer DevDroid has teamed up with Rovertech to mount its Wolly 12.7 remote weapon station on the latter’s heavy ground platform Zmiy. The result: a new reconnaissance and strike UGV called Zmiy Droid 12.7.

The unmanned ground vehicle comes with an armoured hull that can withstand an anti-personnel mine blast and multiple FPV drone hits. It has a range of up to 50 km and a towing capacity of around 700 kg. The developers say the robot is quick, manoeuvrable, and runs on a silent electric engine.

DevDroid’s weapon station is tailored for the 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine gun and is fully remote-controlled. The system promises high accuracy and stable fire, supported by AI-driven target acquisition and tracking. Its effective firing range reaches up to 1,000 metres.

The Wolly 12.7 module also comes equipped with a built-in ballistic computer. Depending on mission needs, the robot can be fitted with narrow- or wide-angle cameras, as well as a thermal imager.

In addition to the weapon module, DevDroid also installed its Droid Box solution on the platform, enabling seamless software integration. This allows Zmiy Droid 12.7 to operate with onboard AI features and provides flexibility to control both the platform and the weapon station together or separately.

According to the developers, the Zmiy Droid 12.7 is now fully ready for combat deployment and is currently undergoing the codification process.

Until now, Rovertech had not developed any reconnaissance-strike platforms. The core product in its portfolio has been the Zmiy demining robot, designed for both military and civilian applications. Last year, the company also introduced a logistics-focused variant of the UGV under the name Zmiy Logistic.

This isn’t DevDroid’s first collaboration with other UGV manufacturers. Recently, the company integrated its Wolly 12.7 combat module onto the Ravlyk unmanned ground vehicle.
