Swedish investment company Front Ventures<\/a>, which has several Ukrainian startups in its portfolio, has published a new analytical report titled The Rise of Unmanned Ground Vehicles<\/a><\/em>. The analysts recorded explosive growth in the deployment of ground robots operating under real combat conditions. According to their data, the supply of UGVs in Ukraine has demonstrated extraordinary momentum, surging by over 650% year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official figures show that around 2,000 UGVs were delivered to military units in 2024, skyrocketing to 15,000 systems in 2025. This rapid integration continues, with Ukraine contracting a further 25,000 unmanned ground systems in the first half of 2026 alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary driver behind such large-scale deployment is the replacement of personnel in hazardous missions. Experts estimate that ground drones currently shield between 1,500 and 1,800 Ukrainian soldiers from mortal danger every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UGVs are also becoming a core element of frontline logistics and sustainment. A striking case in point is the operational experience of the Third Separate Assault Brigade, where robotic platforms already handle 80% of logistics tasks on the line of contact. In units that systematically utilise robots to deliver ammunition and supplies to positions, personnel casualties have fallen by an average of 30%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to preserving vital manpower, the use of UGVs offers significant economic advantages. The average cost of a combat-proven Ukrainian UGV stands at around $35,000, making it approximately 95% cheaper than conventional crewed vehicles performing the same tasks. At the same time, conventional high-value platforms remain considerably more vulnerable to artillery fire and enemy FPV drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The global UGV market remains in its infancy and currently lacks established market leaders, the report’s authors note. Front Ventures views the Ukrainian experience as a unique investment window. The combination of enormous operational demand, low production costs, and proven battlefield effectiveness gives Ukrainian manufacturers every opportunity to eventually emerge as leaders in the global Defence Tech market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
