Several specialised events took place in Kyiv, featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/12\/components-localisation-research\/\">research presentations<\/a>, panel discussions, <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/12\/brave1-launches-components-grant-programme\/\">launches of specialised grant programs<\/a>, and exhibition areas where developers showcased their latest products. In a separate issue of Dorozvidka, Defender Media compiled the most interesting publications about the developments presented at the main event of the week \u2014 Brave1 Components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatic guidance module for intercepting Shaheds from The Fourth Law and Odd Systems<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oboronka.mezha.ua\/tfl-ta-odd-system-kamera-z-modulem-na-shahedi-306784\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Oboronka<\/a> reports that Yaroslav Azhnyuk\u2019s companies, The Fourth Law and Odd Systems, presented a new camera for interceptor drones at Brave1 Components. The system automatically guides a UAV toward airborne targets such as Shahed-type kamikaze drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>target detection \u2014 up to 1,000 m (depending on weather);<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>operating altitude \u2014 up to 5,000 m;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>detection accuracy \u2014 80%;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cost: $800 (camera with module) or $300 (module only).<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the developers, the system independently detects moving thermal targets and assists the interceptor operator in locating a Shahed more quickly. Currently, the camera\u2019s detection function operates stably, enabling the operator to identify enemy drones in the sky on time. The system autonomously detects a drone in a thermal image by analysing the object\u2019s movement, thermal signature, and other parameters using artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Shepit pulse jet engine from Scopa Industries<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/militarnyi.com\/uk\/news\/ukrayinska-kompaniya-scopa-industries-gotuye-do-polotnyh-vyprobuvan-pulsuyuchyj-reaktyvnyj-dvygun-shepit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Militarnyi<\/a>, the Ukrainian company Scopa Industries is preparing its pulse jet engine Shepit, made entirely from Ukrainian components, for flight tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/qbsc1il7cck1dyigjpbj-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18101\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/qbsc1il7cck1dyigjpbj-1024x768.webp 1024w, https:\/\/thedefender.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/qbsc1il7cck1dyigjpbj-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/thedefender.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/qbsc1il7cck1dyigjpbj-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/thedefender.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/qbsc1il7cck1dyigjpbj.webp 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pulse jet engine Shepit \/ image source: Militarnyi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team has already conducted a series of ground tests that demonstrated the system\u2019s baseline capabilities but also revealed a key issue \u2014 overheating in static conditions. In the air, a significantly longer operating cycle is expected due to the cooling effect of airflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Shepit specifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>stable operation time on the ground \u2014 ~5 minutes;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>approximate speed \u2014 around 700 km\/h (depending on the airframe);<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>thrust \u2014 18 kg;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>weight \u2014 6.5 kg;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dimensions \u2014 length 1.3 m; combustion chamber diameter \u2014 25 cm; tail section \u2014 16 cm;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fuel \u2014 regular A-95 gasoline; consumption \u2014 ~1.5 l\/min.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The engine has scalable thrust, allowing it to be adapted to a wide range of UAVs \u2014 from lightweight reconnaissance drones to medium-class strike UAVs. Simplicity of design and maintenance is one of the key advantages highlighted by the manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Hrim-17 pulse jet engine: a new &#8220;heart&#8221; for high-speed interceptors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oboronka <a href=\"https:\/\/oboronka.mezha.ua\/kb-nezalezhne-dvigun-dlya-droniv-perehoplyuvachiv-306821\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reported<\/a> on another Ukrainian jet engine developed by the KB Nezalezhne. The solution is positioned as optimal for intercepting fast Shahed-type UAVs, where high speed and strong dynamics are essential. The company\u2019s engineers are currently working on flight tests of both the engine and the UAV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RB-220 gyro-stabilized camera with laser guidance from M-FLY<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The startup M-FLY presented the multifunctional RB-220 camera at Brave1 Components, <a href=\"https:\/\/militarnyi.com\/uk\/news\/m-fly-predstavyla-kameru-rb-220-z-lazernym-navedennyam-yaku-vzhe-vyprobuvaly-v-ukrayini\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">according to<\/a> Militarniy. he company says it has already been tested in Ukraine under conditions as close to combat as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The camera\u2019s main feature is laser illumination of targets at distances of 2\u20133 km, enabling the use of precision-guided munitions (M712 Copperhead artillery shells, APKWS missiles, Paveway IV bombs, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p helicopters, ground platforms, and stationary systems, thanks to its compact size and universal interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Drone with a gun: autonomous kinetic system from Varta<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ukrainian company Varta showcased a kinetic air-target engagement module at Brave1 Components, <a href=\"https:\/\/oboronka.mezha.ua\/varta-sistema-perehoplennya-malih-bezpilotnikiv-306807\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><em>Oboronka<\/em><\/a> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>System features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>12-gauge anti-drone rounds;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>over 15 integrated platforms, already used by more than 20 units;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>autonomous detection and automatic shot-timing using AI \u2014 under development;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>target detection and recognition during tests \u2014 about 126 m;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>starter kit \u2014 12,900 UAH;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cost per shot \u2014 \u20ac6;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>onboard module \u2014 \u20ac500\u2013800.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team is working on enabling a single operator to control multiple UAVs simultaneously, with the system automatically determining the optimal moment to fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Oko Camera showcased thermal imaging cameras without Chinese components<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ukrainian company Oko Camera, which specialises in thermal imaging modules for defence systems, presented a lineup of cameras operating in the standard long-wave infrared (LWIR) range at the Brave1 Components exhibition, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/oboronka.mezha.ua\/oko-kamera-kameri-bez-kitayskih-komponentiv-306869\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Oboronka<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"503\" without the use of Chinese components. Key elements, including the sensor and optics, are sourced from European manufacturers, while assembly and software development are carried out entirely in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acoustic system for detecting Shaheds from ARes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ARes <a href=\"https:\/\/oboronka.mezha.ua\/ares-sistema-dlya-viyavlennya-shahediv-fpv-droniv-306793\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">has presented<\/a> an acoustic targeting system that works where optics are &#8220;blind&#8221;: in fog, smoke, cloud cover, or urban areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>System capabilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>detection of Shaheds \u2014 up to 5 km;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FPV detection \u2014 200\u2013300 m;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>works completely passively \u2014 does not reveal position;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>able to &#8220;read&#8221; echoes and determine the direction of the sound source;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>two versions: full-size (for mobile groups) and compact (for ground-based robotic platforms).<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approximate cost of the large version is $10,000 (for a single unit).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Components from Roboneers for UAVs and marine drones<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ukrainian company Roboneers <a href=\"https:\/\/oboronka.mezha.ua\/roboneers-komponenti-dlya-nrk-i-morskih-droniv-306826\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">presented<\/a> several new components for UGVs and marine drones at the Brave1 Components event.
