{"id":11514,"date":"2025-09-26T11:21:48","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T08:21:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/?p=11514"},"modified":"2025-12-10T18:23:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T16:23:13","slug":"heavy-ugv-vatag-unveiled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/09\/heavy-ugv-vatag-unveiled\/","title":{"rendered":"Ground Robotics unveils heavy UGV VATAG"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/tags\/defence-tech-valley\/\">Brave1 Defense Tech Valley 2025<\/a> summit, Ukrainian company Ground Robotics unveiled its heavy UGV VATAG, capable of transporting more than 2 tonnes of cargo. A company representative told Defender Media that the UGS is currently undergoing internal testing and preparing for codification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VATAG is a multifunctional platform designed for a wide range of tasks. The vehicle can transport weapons, carry out engineering works and support combat operations in challenging environments. The UGV can reach speeds of over 40 km\/h even off-road and is equipped with armour for both the hull and the chassis, ensuring resistance to shrapnel and mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UGV\u2019s basic weapons configuration includes a 25 mm M242 Bushmaster automatic cannon. However, the platform also supports the integration of cannons up to 30 mm, a 40 mm Mk19 automatic grenade launcher, a 12.7 mm machine gun and anti-tank missile systems. Provision is also made for the installation of multiple rocket launch systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-align-left wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/09\/swarmer-secures-15-mln\/\"><strong>Read more<\/strong>: Swarmer, developer of AI solutions for drone swarms, raises $15M \u2014 a record for a Ukrainian defence startup scene<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For reconnaissance and targeting, VATAG is equipped with a multispectral optical system. This enables <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/tags\/ai\/\">automatic detection and tracking of targets<\/a>, as well as supporting algorithms for fire planning and control. The vehicle\u2019s architecture allows the integration of additional modules, such as electronic warfare systems, telescopic masts with surveillance and data transmission equipment, or aerosol camouflage systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VATAG can autonomously unload cargo, use navigation based on machine vision, lidar and sensors, operate in convoy mode and carry out missions with adaptive responses to the surrounding environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also worth noting that in August the Cabinet of Ministers <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/08\/ugv-courses-allowed-by-state\/\">opened the market for training operators of unmanned ground vehicles<\/a> and naval drones.
