{"id":105366,"date":"2026-10-15T21:59:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T18:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/?p=105366"},"modified":"2026-10-15T21:59:19","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T18:59:19","slug":"lawmakers-against-deferral-cuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2026\/10\/lawmakers-against-deferral-cuts\/","title":{"rendered":"More than 50 MPs oppose government resolution to cut defence industry deferrals to 85%"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 15 October, MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak registered a draft parliamentary resolution proposing to overturn the <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2026\/10\/deferrals-cut-proposition\/\">Cabinet\u2019s decision on changes to the rules on deferral from mobilisation<\/a>. According to its initiator, more than 50 MPs have already signed the document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government resolution of 13 October proposes several changes to the deferral rules, including cutting the quota for employees of critical defence companies from 100% to 85%. Zhelezniak stresses that the decision was taken without consulting business and will cause companies to lose people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese changes were proposed despite the legislation we passed here,\u201d Zhelezniak writes. \u201cNone of the MPs knew about these changes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The draft resolution proposes to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>overturn the Cabinet\u2019s decision of 13 October;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>abandon the creation of a Coordination Centre for the organisation of deferrals, whose \u201cemergence is legally questionable and creates additional corruption risks\u201d;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>resume consultations on adjusting the deferral rules with the Verkhovna Rada, primarily with its relevant committee;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hold additional consultations with business and the organisations representing the defence industry, the fuel and energy sector, housing and utilities, and communications;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ensure maximum deferrals for sectors that are critically important for sustaining the state\u2019s vital functions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow, MPs expect the prime minister and other government members to appear in parliament.
