DEPO Ventures co-founder and managing partner Petr \u0160\u00edma told Defender Media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investment in Zvook is the first in the portfolio of a fund established by National Development Investments, a subsidiary of the Czech National Development Bank. The fund selected DEPO Ventures to manage it, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.therecursive.com\/depo-ventures-wants-to-bring-ukrainian-tech-into-czech-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Recursive<\/a> reported last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the outlet, the new fund plans to invest \u20ac3.8m in startups from Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia that seek to develop their operations and partnerships in the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What startups the fund will invest in<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through the fund, the Czech Republic aims to attract promising technology companies with global ambitions to develop their research, business, or engineering activities in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fund, created under the Fund Ukraine programme, may increase its size to \u20ac5.8m, subject to conditions on attracting private capital and how investments are used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DEPO Ventures co-founder Petr \u0160\u00edma told Defender Media that the fund primarily targets start-ups and technologies that strengthen European resilience. These include financial and space technologies, defence, dual-use technologies, cybersecurity, and energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-align-left wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2026\/03\/ukrainska-bavovna-pavetra\/\"><strong>Read more<\/strong>: \u2018Ukrainska bavovna\u2019 and Czech company Pavetra Aerospace to produce Shuhai&nbsp;UAV through joint venture<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DEPO Ventures was founded in 2016. The company has previously invested in several companies with Ukrainian founders, including the startup Talsec, which develops solutions to protect mobile applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Zvook deal \u2013 and what the project does<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The financial terms of the Zvook deal are not disclosed, but in a conversation with The Recursive, \u0160\u00edma said the fund plans to invest up to \u20ac500,000 in each early-stage company. He added that the company will always invest alongside other funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zvook is developing a network of acoustic sensors for detecting airborne objects, including drones and missiles. The start-up is also testing passive hydrophones <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2026\/08\/zvook-underwater\/\">for underwater monitoring.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to \u0160\u00edma, DEPO Ventures aims not only to finance companies but also to help them build links with Czech businesses and facilitate joint ventures.
