{"id":100438,"date":"2026-09-03T14:13:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T11:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/?p=100438"},"modified":"2026-09-03T14:14:19","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T11:14:19","slug":"army-vat-cancelled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2026\/09\/army-vat-cancelled\/","title":{"rendered":"The Rada abolishes VAT and import duties on weapons components and buggies: details of the new laws"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/tags\/verkhovna-rada\/\">Verkhovna Rada<\/a> has passed at first reading and immediately approved in full Bills No. 15463-1 and No. 15464-1, which amend Ukraine\u2019s Tax and Customs Codes. The bills fully abolish VAT, excise duty and import duties on defence-related goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exemptions apply to the import and supply of quadricycles and all-terrain vehicles under commodity codes 8703 and 8704 of the Ukrainian Classification of Goods for Foreign Economic Activity. The equipment must be supplied for the needs of Ukraine\u2019s Armed Forces, security forces, law enforcement agencies or contractors under state defence contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tax exemptions also cover the import of components for the domestic production of reconnaissance systems, electronic warfare systems, unmanned aircraft, weapons and ammunition. The main condition is that the finished products must be transferred to the military free of charge. In addition, all domestic supplies of weapons and ammunition under defence contracts are now exempt from VAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefender.media\/en\/2026\/09\/firebolt-engineering-story\/\"><strong>Read more:<\/strong> 20 Ukrainian companies are working on jet-powered interceptor drones<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The changes resolve a legal discrepancy over sources of funding. Previously, purchases funded by international military aid, grants or partnership programmes were subject to import duties and taxes, unlike direct purchases funded from the state budget. Customs and tax authorities will now apply the same rules to all defence-related goods.
