Roboneers adds Wi-Fi control to its UGVs

Ukrainian defence tech company Roboneers has added Wi-Fi connectivity to two of its UGVs: Lynx Pro and Lynx+. The platforms were updated at the request of the military to operate in areas where traditional channels do not work.

Now, if an LTE or Starlink signal is unavailable, the operator can connect to the UGV via a relay and control it over Wi-Fi. To enable this, the systems have received new antennas. The range of the Wi-Fi channel is up to 60 metres.

This update complements the types of connectivity already used by Lynx Pro and Lynx+: digital mesh network, Starlink and LTE.

Roboneers adds that Lynx+ has also received a red spotlight. It is designed to make it easier to service the vehicle during hours of darkness without giving away the position, as white light does.

The Lynx+ UGV was unveiled in April this year. The platform is suited for logistics and evacuation and has a range of up to 80 km. This allows it to carry out missions with a radius of up to 40 km one way without intermediate recharging. In May, the company updated Lynx Pro, increasing its range to 40 km.
