The POSIPAKY unit of the 39th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment destroyed a rare Russian Sarych-2 reconnaissance UAV using a General Cherry AIR interceptor drone. This was reported by the manufacturer’s press service. The interception occurred in the autumn, though the video became publicly available only now.

According to the company, the Sarych-2 UAV is a promising reconnaissance development of the Russian military. It is currently undergoing testing and experimental use and has not yet entered serial production.

Open-source data indicate that the Sarych-2 can reach speeds of up to 110 km/h and operate at altitudes of around 5 km. The drone has a wingspan of 3.1 metres and an endurance of up to 2.5 hours, enabling prolonged surveillance, including of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

General Cherry notes that a particular threat is posed by the drone’s onboard computer equipped with specialised software. This system allows the identification of military equipment at distances of up to 2.5 km, significantly enhancing the platform’s reconnaissance capabilities.

The cost of a Sarych-2 system is estimated at around $120,000, according to General Cherry. Despite the limited number of such drones, their deployment could pose significant risks to Ukrainian frontline units, according to the manufacturer’s experts.
