Ratel Robotics, known for its UGVs, has announced the launch of a new division, Ratel Drones, focused on developing and manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles. The company told Defender Media which UAVs will be included in the initial Ratel Drones lineup.

The new division focuses on engineering combat and reconnaissance drones tailored to the demands of modern high-intensity warfare. Mirroring the company’s ground robotic systems, these UAVs are being developed with an emphasis on reliability, endurance, and operational effectiveness in contested environments.

The Ratel Drones portfolio reportedly includes a strike FPV drone (loitering munition) with a range of up to 30 km, a flight time of 30 minutes, and a payload capacity of 3 kg. The line also features a reconnaissance drone boasting an endurance of up to 35 minutes, an operational range of 15 km, and high-zoom optics for surveillance.

In addition, the range includes a bomber drone equipped with a specialised release mechanism. This platform can carry up to 2 kg of payload, remain airborne for up to 30 minutes, and is fitted with a remote-drop system. All drones in the series are equipped with satellite communication capabilities.

Every model is currently in the final phase of testing, including trials conducted under conditions that closely resemble active combat. Simultaneously, the necessary procedures for official codification are underway.

Earlier, Ratel Robotics announced the development of a ground robotic platform designed to serve as a drone carrier; at that stage, the company mentioned using fibre-optic drones produced by Ratel.
