French company Alta Ares has unveiled a drone-interception system developed in partnership with Ukraine’s Tenebris
The interception system has passed NATO validation and is already deployed in Ukraine

The French company Alta Ares has unveiled its Safe Protection Dome counter‑drone system, equipped with both conventional interceptor drones and turbojet aircraft developed in France and Ukraine. The announcement was made in the company’s 17 November release.
The system was presented in Paris during the meeting between Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky. Earlier, on 20 October 2025, the Alta Ares interception system passed NATO validation at the test range of the French Defence Procurement Agency, and ten days later it was deployed in Ukraine, where it downed its first Russian Shahed attack drones.
Alta Ares’s Ukrainian partner is the interceptor‑drone manufacturer Tenebris. CEO Bohdan Velma said the companies are working on localising production in France while simultaneously expanding capacity in Ukraine.
The Safe Protection Dome combines Thales and Echodyne tactical radars with X‑Wing interceptors and jointly developed turbojet drones. The system can destroy hostile UAVs at a range of up to 30 km, and its integrated end‑stage guidance AI, according to the developers, increases interception efficiency by 35%.

According to Alta Ares CEO and co‑founder Hadrien Canter, the system’s effectiveness is the result of work by engineers in France and Ukraine. In the first quarter of 2026, the company plans to localise full‑cycle production in France for one of the interceptors, subject to approval from the Ukrainian government. Production of the turbojet drone is already under way; the aircraft is made from 85% European components and does not rely on Chinese batteries.
Alta Ares was established in January 2024 and, according to French media reports, has raised at least €2 million in investment from Expansion & Starburst, Kima Ventures and Durandal.
In summer 2025, Alta Ares opened a representative office in Ukraine to deepen cooperation in unmanned systems, and in autumn it began interceptor production in France together with Ukrainian engineers.
