The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has launched an experimental mechanism for transferring technologies developed within the Defence Ministry system into serial production, Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal announced today.

Under the new procedure, solutions and technologies that have proven effective may be produced simultaneously by several enterprises. This is expected to increase the production volumes of tested equipment and expand the range of armaments through existing state-developed designs.

Ukrainian companies could be eligible for production if meet one of three criteria:

  • have state contracts in the defence sector;
  • are designated as critically important for ensuring the needs of the Armed Forces;
  • are listed in the electronic register of participants in the selection process and executors of state contracts.

Defence agencies of partner countries may also gain access to the technologies, provided that the manufactured goods are supplied to Ukraine as military-technical assistance. At the same time, the technologies themselves will remain state property.

The new mechanism also provides for the involvement of NATO partners in improving Defence Ministry technologies within the new export framework.
