Ukrainian defence tech startup UADamage has raised $400,000 in investment to scale its AI-based aerial demining technology. The investment was secured with support from the national defence tech cluster Brave1.

UADamage has developed a drone system capable of surveying up to 10,000 m² of potentially mined territory per day — one hundred times more than a human deminer. The technology offers detection accuracy of up to 5 cm and significantly reduces the risks to operators’ lives.

The system integrates data from four sensors — an RGB camera, an infrared sensor, a magnetometer, and, in future versions, a ground-penetrating radar. The data is processed into a detailed map within 5–10 minutes of the drone’s flight.

The company also plans to adapt the technology for use with ground-based robotic platforms.

In addition, UADamage specialises in the digitisation of damaged areas. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the company has produced orthophoto maps of Posad-Pokrovske, Bakhmut, Bucha, Irpin, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Kupiansk. To date, UADamage has surveyed more than 61,000 m² of minefields and digitised over 520,000 m² of territory.

It is also worth noting that demining equipment from Ukrainian and international manufacturers was recently tested at a Ministry of Defence training facility.
