US Air Force purchases radio stations from Ukrainian developer of secure communication systems Himera
Air Force Research Laboratory becomes Himera’s first foreign customer

The American defence-blog.com reported that Himera has become a supplier of radio stations for the US Air Force.
The pilot project began in autumn 2024 with a batch of tactical radios for the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). “They decided to test our product and evaluate whether it makes sense to implement our technology on a larger scale in the US military,” the publication quoted the manufacturer as saying.
The startup recently partnered with Quantropi, a company specialising in quantum-secure data encryption technologies. This collaboration aims to integrate post-quantum encryption into Himera’s communication systems, expanding the potential of their tactical radios in the global defence markets.
The partnership will see Himera integrate quantum-resistant encryption into its G1 PRO tactical radios, R1 repeaters, B1 standalone repeaters and E1 internet extenders. Under the agreement, Quantropi will act as the exclusive distributor of Himera products in the United States and Canada, and it will have the right to promote them in selected NATO and allied markets.
Having been field-tested in Ukraine’s most intense defensive and offensive operations, Himera tactical radios are designed to meet the needs of modern armed forces. The entire product line is equipped with AES-256 encryption, MESH/MANET networking technologies and frequency hopping to counter electronic warfare threats. With Quantropi’s QiSpace platform integration, Himera’s communications systems will benefit from quantum-secure encryption and high-entropy quantum random number generation. This significantly enhances cryptographic security, electronic warfare resistance, and protection against interception and jamming.
“The Himera G1 PRO can fill a critical gap for NATO countries – it is an EW-resistant, quantum-safe radio at an extremely competitive price,” says Misha Rudominsky, co-founder of the startup.
What you need to know about Himera
Ukrainian security forces already use more than 5,000 Himera radios. Earlier, Defender reported that the project, founded in 2022 by Misha Rudominsky and Oleksiy Oliynyk, was included in the Techosystem’s 100 Rising Ukrainian Startups catalogue of promising Ukrainian startups. In 2024, the startup raised investments twice – $525,000 in March from a group of business angels, and several hundred thousand dollars more at the end of the year from Green Flag Ventures and Nezlamni.
In January 2025, Himera tested three devices that complement the capabilities of the G1 PRO tactical radio at the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
