Meet Defender Media – a new publication about Ukrainian defence tech

We are launching Defender Media, a new online publication dedicated to innovations in the Ukrainian defence sector.

Why we do it

Today, the Ukrainian defence tech industry is estimated to be worth at least $1 billion. In 2024, investments in domestic defence start-ups reached $59 million, and this figure has every chance of growing to $100 million this year.

Ukrainian defence tech is currently being covered by technology and military media. But for the former, this is just one of many topics they don’t always focus on. The latter often ignores the business aspect of the industry, without which successful development is impossible.

Defender Media’s editorial team will write exclusively about defence tech, discussing technologies, business nuances, and practical applications of innovations in the defence sector. Our goal is to become the main source of information about Ukrainian defence tech inside and outside the country.

We believe that defence tech is critical to our country’s survival. Meanwhile, there was no specialised defence tech publication that would focus on the business side of the industry and help local startups increase their investment attractiveness. We have fixed that.

Who we are

We are three like-minded people who work in communications. Our team started working on the project in the autumn of 2024, and later, we attracted investment from Sigma Software Labs, a corporate venture fund. At the same time, we agreed that Defender Media would retain its identity and maintain an independent and unbiased editorial policy.

How to use the site

Defender Media is a classic online publication that publishes news, interviews with market participants, analytics, expert columns and other materials. They are divided into seven main thematic categories: Innovations, Startups, Events, Investments, Ecosystem, State and Insights.

On the home page, in the upper right corner, you can switch between light and dark themes and between Ukrainian and English. You can also save materials that interest you so you can read them later.
