Ukrainian startup HIMERA, which develops EW-resistant radios, has attracted investment from Green Flag Ventures. The startup is now moving towards closing a new round, which will be the second this year. Himera Radios closed its first round in March, raising $525K.

The round is still ongoing, and the total amount will be announced after closing, said AIN co-founder Misha Rudominsky. It is known that the fund of American entrepreneur Justin Ziff’s Green Flag Ventures has joined the investment, but no other investors have been announced yet.

The money raised is to be invested in R&D and increasing production capacity. Rudominsky says that they plan to develop much faster and do things that took two or three years to create on their own within quarters.

“The sooner we make these products, the better we will occupy the niche. We will also be able to test and iterate on our product better. All of this is being tested at the frontline level: whatever we do is immediately tested. We get very honest feedback, including negative feedback, which we use to improve”, Misha Rudominsky comments.

In July, HIMERA announced an improved version of its predecessor, the G1 Pro, which has already received codification from the Ministry of Defence and has pre-orders from various agencies.

“While the G1 covered a lot of niche issues where others did not, the G1 Pro is a full-fledged flagship product, a tactical radio for defence and security forces, which is expected to be sold not only in Ukraine but also to NATO and non-NATO partner countries over time”.

So far, HIMERA does not disclose how many employees work in the team, but they are actively recruiting new people. They are also not ready to disclose the current valuation of the startup.

About the project

The startup was founded in 2022 by Misha Rudominsky and Oleksiy Oliynyk. The project won first place in the IT Arena 2023 startup competition, which represents the Defense Tech area and is held in partnership with the Startup Depot team. Lviv Business Incubator.

HIMERA is a universal secure communication system for use in civilian emergencies. It can be used as part of an operational awareness system. It is resistant to EW due to the VFD technology. The system can be easily set up via Bluetooth via a smartphone without learning specialised software.
