A new branch of the armed forces – the Unmanned Systems Forces – has been presented in Kyiv. This makes Ukraine the first country to officially create such a force, reports the Defense Ministry.

The USF launched its own Telegram channel, where it announced the start of work and recruitment. Details are available on the official website. The symbol of the new type of troops is a swallow created by a neural network. The Ministry of Defense notes that it represents victory.

Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky was appointed Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces in accordance with the order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine of June 10, 2024.

In February of this year, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree establishing the UAS as a separate branch of the armed forces.

Before his dismissal, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhnyi, in his article on changing approaches to warfare, emphasized that unmanned systems, along with other modern types of weapons, are a key factor in overcoming the positional confrontation.

In the third year of the full-scale war, Ukraine is intensifying strikes deep into russian territory. According to journalists, the country is producing its own long-range drones to attack oil refineries, airfields and logistics facilities.

In total, Ukraine plans to produce thousands of long-range drones capable of reaching Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2024. In addition, about 10 companies are currently working on the development of long-range drones.
